The house was finished in August 2006, and has 4 cm underfloor thermal/moisture
barriers on the ground floor, has full ag-line drainage around the
foundations, and is dry and warm throughout the year, so much so
that the present owners did not need to install air conditioning,(although
it is prefitted and ready to go, and the layout of the house catches
the cool breezes, (from the west predominantly), and naturally airs
the house throughought the day and night. The solar panels supply
the hot water for 8-9 months of the year, making this a very energy
efficient house. There is no signs of the traditional 'salt' patches,
as, unusually, the foundations were all well protected, and also
drained away from the house. Construction is all double walled and
insulated. Windows are all double glazed, with security glass on
all the outer panes. Many windows are both open and 'swing in' for
additional security.The showers are all walk-in, and full glass
surrounds or doors. All sinks in the bathrooms are fitted into local
stone tops, and the master bathroom has a heated double mirror to
prevent condensation 'fog'. Doors and frames throughout are all
full light oak finish. The upper floor has full brazilian hardwood
finishes through the two upper bedrooms. The garage was designed
and steel calculated, so that it can easily support an upper structure
